Download speed is the rate at which data reaches your device, normally expressed in megabits per second. It influences page loading, streaming quality, software downloads and cloud applications.
Why results change
Results can vary because of Wi-Fi signal, background traffic, device limitations, browser behaviour, routing and test-server capacity. Compare tests on Ethernet and Wi-Fi to separate line performance from wireless performance.
Mbps is not MB/s
Internet packages use megabits per second, while file sizes often use megabytes. Eight bits make one byte, so a perfect 80 Mbps connection has a theoretical maximum near 10 MB/s before overhead.
